Before applying for your Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), you need to prepare several important documents. Having these documents ready will ensure a smooth application process.

Essential Documents


Valid Passport

A valid passport is the most important document required for your MDAC application. Your passport must be:

  • Valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned date of entry to Malaysia
  • Have at least two blank pages for stamps
  • In good condition (no damage, tears, or unauthorized markings)

Important: You will need to enter your passport details exactly as they appear in your passport, including your full name, passport number, and expiry date.

Travel Details

You will need to provide detailed information about your travel plans, including:

  • Flight number or other transportation details
  • Planned date of arrival in Malaysia
  • Port of entry (airport, seaport, or land crossing)
  • Planned date of departure from Malaysia
  • Countries visited in the last 14 days before arrival

Tip: Have your flight itinerary or booking confirmation handy when filling out your MDAC application.

Accommodation Details

You must provide information about where you will be staying in Malaysia:

  • Name of hotel or accommodation
  • Complete address of your accommodation
  • Contact number of the accommodation
  • If staying with friends/family, their complete address and contact information

Note: If you have multiple accommodations planned during your stay, provide details of your first accommodation in Malaysia.

Personal Information

You will need to provide the following personal details:

Basic Information

Full name (as in passport), date of birth, gender, nationality, place of birth, and contact information (email and phone number).

Home Address

Your complete residential address in your home country, including street, city, state/province, postal code, and country.

Occupation Details

Your current occupation and employer information may be required.

Travel Purpose & Health Information

Purpose of Visit

You will need to specify your reason for visiting Malaysia (tourism, business, visiting friends/family, etc.).

Health Declaration

You may need to provide information about your health status and recent travel history, especially if there are current health concerns or outbreaks.

Emergency Contact

Details of a person to contact in case of emergency, including their name, relationship to you, and contact information.

Payment Information

To complete your MDAC application, you will need to pay the application fee (approximately 20 USD). Have one of the following payment methods ready:

  • Credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express)
  • PayPal account (if available)
  • Other payment methods as specified on the official portal

Common Document Mistakes to Avoid

Name Mismatch

Ensure your name is entered exactly as it appears in your passport, including middle names and any hyphens or special characters.

Incorrect Dates

Double-check all dates, including your birth date, passport expiry date, and travel dates. Use the correct format (DD/MM/YYYY).

Incomplete Address Information

Provide complete and accurate address information for both your home address and accommodation in Malaysia.

After Submission

Once you've submitted your MDAC application:

  • Save or print a copy of your application confirmation
  • Check your email regularly for updates or requests for additional information
  • Download and print your approved MDAC when received
  • Keep a digital and printed copy of your approved MDAC for your journey

You may be required to show your approved MDAC at check-in, during your flight, and upon arrival in Malaysia.
